WARDOGS server browser empty or no servers showing: fix
If the browser is empty, tick one region only and hit refresh. Multi-region queries return nothing on the current build. If that doesn't do it, it's usually a VPN, a firewall blocking UDP, or the backend being overloaded in the first hours after launch.
1. One region at a time
Open the server browser, untick every region except yours, refresh. Beta players confirmed repeatedly that selecting multiple regions produced an empty list while a single region populated instantly. If your nearest region is empty, try the next one over; ping in the 40–70 ms range is fine for this game.
2. Turn off the VPN
The browser and matchmaking use your apparent location. A VPN exit in another region gives you either nothing or servers with 200 ms ping. Same for "gaming VPN" accelerators; disable them until the list works, then experiment.
3. Firewall and NAT
- Windows Defender Firewall: allow
WARDOGS.exe(orWARDOGS-Win64-Shipping.exe) on private and public networks. - Router: UPnP on, or forward the Steam/EOS UDP ranges. If your NAT type shows Strict in other games, it'll hurt here too.
- Third-party antivirus with its own firewall: add the game folder as an exception.
4. Backend overload
For the first few hours after 17:00 UK on 10 September, the Epic Online Services backend that feeds the browser will be slammed. Symptoms: browser refreshes for 20+ seconds then shows nothing, "Connecting to online services" loops. That's them, not you. Wait a minute between refreshes; hammering it makes it slower for everyone.
5. Every server is full
100-slot servers fill in seconds at launch. Sort by free slots, pick one with 5+ open, join the moment you see it. Community servers with a queue (from approved hosts) let you wait in line instead of refreshing.
6. Verify and restart
If the list is empty in every region with no VPN, restart the game once (EOS auth tokens can go stale), then verify game files.
FAQ
Why does the WARDOGS server browser show nothing?
Nearly always the region filter: with several regions selected the list comes back empty. Select one region and refresh.
Are there official servers?
Yes, BULKHEAD runs official servers per region. Community servers from approved hosts appear in the same browser under their own tab or filter.
Does a VPN break the server browser?
Often. The browser uses your location to pick a region; a VPN exit in another continent gives you an empty or wrong list. Turn it off.
Sick of full servers and queues?
Rent your own WARDOGS server from an approved host and play with your mates on your rules. UK/EU: QONZER (bare metal, no slot fees). Anywhere else: BisectHosting (21 locations). Casual group: xREALM (pay by the hour). Full comparison.
