Modern Warfare 4 rewards a high, stable framerate and a clean image over eye candy. Run Fullscreen Exclusive at native resolution, add DLSS 4.5 Quality for upscaling, cap your framerate, turn ray tracing off, and push the effects that obscure players — shadows, particles, volumetric fog — to Low. Display, resolution and framerate
- Display Mode: Fullscreen Exclusive. It gives the GPU direct control of the screen, the lowest latency and the most consistent frame pacing. Borderless is convenient for alt-tabbing but adds a compositor step you don't want in a competitive shooter.
- Resolution: your monitor's native resolution. Don't drop it to chase frames — use the upscaler instead.
- Render resolution: 100%. Let DLSS handle upscaling rather than lowering the render scale by hand, which just makes the image soft.

Field of view
- Call of Duty ships with a low default FOV. Raise it to 100–110 on a 16:9 display to see more of your flanks.
- A wider FOV shrinks distant players slightly and can cost a few frames because more of the scene is drawn, so don't max it blindly — 105 is a sensible balance for most people.
- Ultrawide (21:9) users can go higher again; check the HUD stays where you want it.
NVIDIA Reflex and latency
If you're on an RTX card, turn on Reflex (Low Latency). It reduces the render queue and shaves input latency, which matters more to how the game feels than a few extra frames. Combine it with a framerate cap for the steadiest latency. AMD and Intel users get similar behaviour from a driver-level low-latency mode plus an in-game cap.
Audio for footsteps
- Master high, Music low or off.
- Pick a headphone/stereo audio profile in the game rather than stacking Windows Sonic or Dolby Atmos on top of it — layering two spatial processors makes positioning worse, not better.
