Platforms

GTA 6 launches on:

• PlayStation 5
• Xbox Series X/S

These are the only confirmed platforms. There is no confirmed release for PC, PS4, Xbox One, or any handheld. If you want to play GTA 6 in 2026, you need a PS5 or an Xbox Series X/S.

Pre-orders

Pre-orders opened worldwide on 25 June 2026 across both console platforms. Pre-ordering does two useful things:

• It secures any edition-specific extras (see the editions page).
• Eligible digital pre-orders unlock pre-load ahead of launch, so the game is downloaded and ready to play the moment it unlocks.

Physical disc buyers still install from the disc on release day, so the pre-load benefit mainly applies to digital purchases.

Pre-load

Digital pre-load begins at local midnight on 12 November 2026 — a full week before launch. That timing matters for a game this large: launch-day store traffic is heavy and downloads crawl, so getting the data on your console early means you're not stuck watching a progress bar on the 19th.

• Pre-load applies to eligible digital pre-orders.
• Starting at local midnight on 12 November gives you a week of headroom.
• The game stays locked until the launch unlock on 19 November even once downloaded.

If you pre-order digitally, start the pre-load as soon as it opens rather than the night before launch.

Time zones

Rockstar launches are typically staggered by region rather than a single global unlock moment. Pre-load is specified as local midnight on 12 November, which is region-relative by design. For the exact launch-hour unlock in your country, follow the console store listing (PlayStation Store / Microsoft Store) closer to the date — that is the authoritative source for the minute the game becomes playable in your region.

What about PC?

There is no PC version of GTA 6 announced. No PC release date, no PC pre-order, and no PC pre-load. The 19 November 2026 date is console-only.

A PC version is widely *expected* based on Rockstar's history — GTA 5 reached PC about 18 months after console, and Red Dead Redemption 2 about 13 months after — which would suggest a window around late 2027 to early 2028. Before launch day

1. Pre-load early if you bought digitally — from local midnight on 12 November, not the night before.
2. Free up space. A modern Rockstar open-world game is a large install; leave generous headroom on your console storage.
3. Buy the right platform. Only PS5 and Xbox Series X/S are confirmed. Don't wait on a PC version that hasn't been announced.
4. Check your edition. If you pre-ordered, confirm which edition you have and what it includes on the editions page.
5. Ignore fake countdowns. The only dates that matter are the three in the table above.
